FORT WORTH, TX – The Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth is proud to announce that Baseball Hall of Fame Nolan Ryan will be the featured speaker at the organization’s first annual “Lunch with a Lone Star Legend” fundraising event. The luncheon will be held on Friday, August 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Omni Hotel of Fort Worth.

Nolan Ryan, 61, was named the 10th president in Texas Rangers team history on February 6, 2009.He is the first Hall of Fame player named president of a Major League franchise since Christy Mathewsonserved as president of the Boston Braves in 1925. Ryan returned to the Rangers after a four-year absence,where he was previously affiliated with the team for nearly 15 years.
Elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, Ryan was inducted on July 25, 1999,wearing a Rangers “T” on his Hall of Fame plaque. He was selected to the Hall of Fame on 98.79% of theeligible ballots, a figure which remains the second-highest in history. Ryan is an inaugural member of theTexas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame, and is the only player to have had his number (34) retired by the club.

Last year, 919 families received lodging and care at the Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth.
