WHY:

ABOUT PRINCESS ALEXA FOUNDATION

The Princess Alexa Foundation began in August 2008 in memory of Alexa Aigner, a 4-year-old girl who loved dressing up to escape the reality of cancer. Founded by Alexa’s mother Crys Aigner, the non-profit is a 100% volunteer run 501(c)(3) with a mission to celebrate the childhood spirit of seriously ill children through dress up and play. In its first year, the organization gifted just under 5,000 items to seriously ill children. The Princess Alexa Foundation has three dress up closets in operation in the DFW area. The first closet opened at Children's Medical Center in Dallas on June 25, 2009, at the first anniversary of Alexa's passing. There are also dress up closets at Our Children's House of Baylor and its six outpatient facilities, as well as at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. The Princess Alexa Foundation plans to open a dress up closet at Cook Children's Medical Center on June 25. The Foundation accepts donations of new costumes and accessories for boys and girls sizes 2-10 year-round. www.PrincessAlexaFoundation.org.
